Summer Snowman

How We Died (1970)

There are pretences Upon which I founder….

The summer snowman is one.

He comes on Like a meteor storm Crashing against The sharp air.

When there is nothing I can possibly say, He stands me on my head And thumps out Truths like wooden coins.

The most I can do is die
